An Octobrist is a child who joined the “Oktyabryata” organization. This was the first step in the communist hierarchy. Next came the Pioneers, then the Komsomol, and the highest step was the party (CPSU).
October stars are children’s groups that were created in schools, in elementary grades. They are intended for children aged approximately 6 to 10 years. In our class there were 5 stars. And the number of children in each star depended on the total number of students in the class. In our case, it was 6-7 people. At that time, it seemed very illogical to me. After all, a star has 5 rays, so each should consist of 5 people.
The purpose of creating October stars is to educate children in the spirit of patriotism, love for the Motherland and respect for elders. Children learn to be responsible, kind and caring. They also gain knowledge about the nature, history and culture of their country. In October stars, children learn to be friends, help each other and respect their comrades. They participate in various events, such as sports competitions, creative contests and excursions.
