Games in the USSR

There were many different games and amusements in the USSR, some of them are still popular. Here are some examples:

1. What? Where? When? – an intellectual game on knowledge and logic.

3. Battleship is a paper game where two players place ships and try to sink them.

5. Checkers is also a board game, especially popular in Russia.

Checkers is a board game that is also quite ancient and popular in many countries. It is also played on a special board called a checkerboard and uses 12 dark and 12 light checkers.

Tic Tac Toe is a game for two players, each of whom takes turns placing a cross or nought on the board, trying to connect them into a vertical, horizontal or diagonal line. The first player to make a line of three of their symbols wins.

Renju is a Japanese board game played on a 15 x 15 square board. Two players take turns placing black and white stones on the board, trying to make a line of five of their stones vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. However, in Renju, five-in-a-rows are not allowed unless there is at least one empty space on either side of the line.

Games like tic-tac-toe and renju not only help improve logical thinking, but also develop qualities such as patience, concentration and strategic thinking.

8. The game of traffic jams. We played this game at school for several years – it was very popular.

Corks from cologne or perfume were used. The number of lives depended on the color of the cork. The strongest cork was golden – 15 lives. Each cork of a certain shape had a name. A life burned if one cork hit another. They played with their feet on the asphalt.

I remember we scoured all the dumps looking for new caps.
