Soviet propaganda posters were widely used during the Soviet Union to promote communism and socialism. They were common in all areas of life – in education, military affairs and even in everyday life. The universality of the propaganda poster was that it contained a minimum of text and a maximum of images.
Propaganda posters are divided into several categories, such as soldier, social and educational. Soldier posters were aimed at raising morale and motivation to fight fascism. One of the most famous Soviet propaganda posters is “The Motherland Calls!” Educational propaganda posters were created to improve the level of education and culture. Such posters contained calls to read books and improve scientific knowledge. Social posters were created to improve the national economy and increase material well-being. Such posters put labor discipline and productivity at the forefront.
