Tbilisi was the capital of the Georgian SSR within the USSR. The Georgian SSR was created on February 25, 1921, after Georgia joined the USSR. Throughout the entire period of the USSR, Tbilisi was one of the largest and most developed cities in the republic. In 1991, the Georgian SSR declared its independence, and Tbilisi became the capital of independent Georgia.

There are many interesting places to visit in Tbilisi. Some of them are:
- Old Town (Old Tbilisi): here you will find many cozy narrow streets, beautiful buildings, historical monuments and souvenir shops.
- Metekhi Church: This is one of the most famous and beautiful churches in Tbilisi, built in the 13th century.
- Funicular: The funicular will take you up to the highest hill in the city – Mtatsminda, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of Tbilisi.
- Museum of Georgia: This museum is the national museum of Georgia and is located in the former parliament building. In the museum, you can learn about the history and culture of Georgia.
- Tbilisi Fortification: This is a system of fortifications built around the city in the 18th and 19th centuries, which were created to protect Tbilisi from enemy attacks.
- Zakmet Church: This is one of the most ancient churches in the city, built in the 4th century.
- Business Center Market: In this market you will find many national Georgian goods such as wines, dried fruits, nuts, cheeses and much more.
- Mirzaani Bridge: This is a beautiful bridge built on the Kura River in 1812, which connects the Old Town and the New Town.
- Narikala: This is an ancient fortress located on the top of a mountain, which offers a beautiful view of the city.
- Botanical Garden: This is a beautiful park located on the edge of the city where you can see a variety of vegetation and enjoy a secluded atmosphere.
