Stars on the towers
In addition to various types of awards, “Kremlin Stars” is also the name of the famous stars that are installed on five towers of the Kremlin – Borovitskaya, Troitskaya , Spasskaya, Nikolskaya and Vodovzvodnaya.
The first star on the Borovitskaya Tower was installed in 1935. All the stars were made of ruby glass, weighed from 300 to 500 kg and had a diameter of 3 to 4 meters. The frame is gilded copper – 30 kg of gold was used for cutting.
Nowadays, the “Kremlin Stars” on the Kremlin towers are a well-known symbol of the Russian capital and one of the city’s main attractions. They are also a symbol of the power and authority of the Russian state.
