Gorky Automobile Plant

The Gorky Automobile Plant (now GAZ OJSC) is considered one of the largest and most significant enterprises in the automobile industry in Russia. The plant was founded in 1932 on the basis of a specialized machine-building plant. At first, the enterprise produced various equipment and machines, and in 1936, car assembly began. Subsequently, the Gorky Automobile Plant began to create its own designs, such as the Volga, Chaika, GAZelle and others.

For many years, the Gorky Automobile Plant was a symbol of high-quality Soviet automobile industry and an important source of transportation for the Soviet people. After the collapse of the USSR, the plant faced serious problems, but in recent years it has begun a new stage of development, updating its production base and producing more modern models of cars. Today, GAZ is a key manufacturer of commercial vehicles in Russia.
